ロシア軍によるウクライナ侵攻に対するメッセージ

私たちは、ロシア軍によるウクライナ侵攻に強い衝撃と怒りを感じ、ここに抗議の意思表示をします。私たちはまた、プーチン大統領らロシア政府指導者による核を用いた威嚇や、ロシア軍による原子力発電所の制圧に、深刻な懸念と恐怖を抱いています。

 今こそ国籍や立場を異にする市民相互の連帯と協力が必要です。ウクライナ・ロシア両国民や当該地域の関係者、ウクライナ語・ロシア語の話者や学習者などに対する差別や嫌がらせはあってはなりません。また、政府と国民とを同一視した攻撃や排除も、どのような状況下であれ許されるものではありません。

 このような時だからこそ、世界の諸地域やその歴史、紛争の解決に向けた方策について自由な視点から学びうる場として、大学が本来の役割を果たせるよう、私たちは力を尽くしていきたいと思います。

Statement in Response to the Invasion of Ukraine by Russian Forces

We are deeply shocked and angered by the Russian military’s invasion of Ukraine and hereby express our protest. We are also seriously concerned and horrified by President Putin and other Russian government leaders’nuclear threats, and by the Russian military’s taking control of Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

Now is the time for solidarity and cooperation among citizens of different nationalities and positions. There must be no discrimination or harassment against Ukrainian and Russian citizens, against people with connections to the affected regions, and against speakers and learners of Ukrainian and Russian. It is also unacceptable under any circumstances for attacks and ostracism to take place as a result of failing to make a distinction between the government and the people of a particular country.

Now, more than ever, we will do our utmost to ensure that the university fulfills its essential role as a place where people can freely and with open minds engage in learning about the world’s regions, their histories, and measures to resolve conflicts.
