Applicants who have applied for Japanese Government Scholarship (MEXT Research Students) and have passed the first screening conducted at the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General and wish to enter the Graduate School of International Studies, Hiroshima City University should read carefully the following information to request a letter of acceptance. We advise you to contact us as soon as you find out the result of the preliminary examination as issuing a letter of acceptance may take some time.

 

1.  When you make an inquiry, please inform us that you are an applicant for the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship who passed the preliminary examination, and also provide the following information: (1) Name, (2) Nationality, (3) Current university or working affiliation (if employed), and (4) Desired course for enrollment (research student, master’s student, or doctoral student).

3.  If you wish to study at the Graduate School of International Studies, please submit the following documents:

 

(1) A copy of the “Passing Certificate of the First Screening”

 

(2) Copies of the documents that you submitted to the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General

1)  Application Form

2)  Field of Study and Research Plan

3)  Certified grade transcript for each academic year

4)  Graduation certificate or degree certificate of the last university attended

5)  Recommendation letter from the president/dean or the advisor of the last university attended or the university currently attending

6)  Abstracts of theses

7)  Certificate of language proficiency (only if submitted to the diplomatic mission)

8)  Recommendation letter from the present employer (only if submitted to the diplomatic mission)

 

(3)  Copy of your passport (if you have one)

 

Note: For documents 1) and 2) mentioned above, please submit documents with a confirmation seal affixed by the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General.

 

4.  Please send above-mentioned documents via e-mail. The documents to be submitted to the university should all be sent by e-mail, but in cases when it is difficult to access the Internet, the documents may be sent by postal mail.

5.  Once we receive all the required documents, we will start screening the documents, and we will send a completed letter of acceptance to successful applicants. Please submit the acceptance letter to the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General once you receive the letter.

 

Note (1) If the graduate school deemed necessary, we often initially accept applicants with MEXT Scholarship as a Research Student status. Therefore, if you wish to obtain a degree, you must change your status to Regular Student by passing the adjustment of status examination after arriving in Japan within the appointed period.

Note (2) Please collect information about a potential supervisor who fits with your proposed research purpose and research plan.
